Candace, a year 4,5,6 teacher at Kaurna Plains School, describes how Reading, Writing and Word Study are connected using a 'Gradual Release of Responsibility' model, and that this has created real purposes for the students. As a consequence, she has been able to develop high student engagement and greatly improved results. She is also able to make multiple connections across different learning areas.
